The Panteion University has a unique and central Library which is located in the neoclassical building of Syngrou Avenue. The entrance is on the ground floor of the building, but the library extends to three more floors with a total area of 2000 sq.m, with its own elevator and staircase.
The purpose of Panteion University Library and Information Service is to cover, support and promote educational and research activities of the Panteion academic community. Library’s operation also supports instructional missions of undergraduate and postgraduate programs while at the same time promotes academic objectives and contributes to the fulfillment of the social role of the University.
In order to achieve its purposes, the Library has fully automated its services and functions and develops print, electronic and digital collections as well as internet applications and services. The Library also participates in national and European networks aiming to a more effective usage of available information resources.
The website is supported by a networked digital information system which enables library staff to perform functions such as: content update, announcements and events presentation, users support, offer digital services et al.
The digital library of Panteion University offers access to full text documents of postgraduate and doctorate thesis, lecture notes and Greek journal articles and conferences papers.
The Panteion Library supports access to its services for blind and partially sighted users and it has a individual room, a workstation with full ecquipments and related software for the print-disabled students. Moreover the Panteion Library pioneered to the creation of AMELib, which provide accessible books to all beneficiaries’ print-disabled users of academic libraries in the country online. It is also the first attempt for a collective online public directory (online public access catalogue - OPAC) which contains the electronic version of many books.
